Have you ever seen someone sculpt using a chainsaw? Have you ever made your own rope? Have you ever had breakfast down by the chuck wagon? All of this and much more await you at the Oklahoma Outback Art Festival coming up this weekend July 24th and 25th. It will be held in Granite at the Girl Scout Camp Kate Portwood, from noon to 6:00 PM on Friday and on Saturday it starts with a Chuck wagon breakfast at 8 AM till 5 PM. Tickets for the Chuck wagon breakfast are $7 advance and $8 at the door. For ticket information call 580 535 2184.

There will be lots to see and do for everyone, lots art booths, craft booths, music, food and entertainment. Demonstrations featuring Bill Boettcher of Norman, OK on stone sculpting and chainsaw wood sculpting will start at around noon on Friday and 1 PM on Saturday. We will have the Spring Creek Regulators Shoot Out on both days. These folks delight audiences with their tales of the old west, outlaws and painted ladies. You might find yourself getting arrested (don’t worry, you can bail yourself out if needed) and you might even see somebody get KILT!!! Not to worry they get kilt about twice a day.

The Oklahoma Outback Art Festival is a Judged art show and sale. Artist from all over Oklahoma and Texas are making their way to the Outback encampment to show their glassworks in glass fusion and blown glass, oil paintings, bead work, photography, sculpture in metal, stone and wood. There will also be the crafters there with hand made soaps, candles and decorative pieces for the home and yard. Something for everyone.

Kids will have their own little piece of the Outback in the Kids Art House. They will be able to make sand paintings which are one of the oldest forms of original art. They can participate in the Outback Mural, a continuous mural which gets added to by each of our creative children. Then there is the granite playscape that takes on a different shape every time some one walks by. A moon walk and air slide are also there for the kids and all of the above is free for the kids. Swimming is available at the Girl Scout swimming pool for a fee of $1.50.

All of this is going on during the Celedonio Romero Guitar Institute. The public is invited to watch (quiet please) these guitar masters teaching during Master Class time at the Granite High School. On Tues thru Thur. master classes will be held at 4 PM to 5:30 PM. On Friday it will be 1:30 to 3 PM. Please call ahead to verify times, 580-535-2184.

On Friday and Saturday nights please join us at the Robert M. Kerr Performance Hall at Quartz. Mountain State Park for the Quartz Mountain Music Festival.
