The March report on the distribution of Sales Tax revenue was released last week and though only one Greer County entity had an increase over the previous year, all of the receipts were pretty close to last year’s receipts.

State wide, sales tax collections were down $7.05 million. The March distribution reflects taxable sales made in January. Mangum got a boost from the ice storm that hit the area as folks from over 60 miles away were coming to our community to buy goods as we were the only community with our own power plant.

Mangum was down a little over $1,700, Granite was down slightly over $1,100 and Greer County was off $1,500 from the same period the previous year. Willow was the big winner, more than doubling their receipts from the previous year.
