We must have gone through our monsoon season last week as rain moved through the area on July 1st when we received .12” of rain according to local weatherman Bob Bratton.

The rain kept coming, increasing on a daily basis with .41” on the 2nd and 0.51” on July 3rd.

The big rain waited until Independence Day as we received 2.07” and that was followed on Monday by 1.73”. All told we had 4.84” of rain the past week.

For areas in the northern part of Greer County this came on the heels of a big rain that moved through portions of the county from near Jester to Brinkman that dumped from 2-4” of rain, causing some of the smaller streams to flood.

As far as Lake Lugert goes, the rains helped a bit, but with the irrigation canals running full force, any rain that comes in is pretty much recycled out within a few days.
