Pre-K through grades 4 has a total enrollment of 321, grades 5-8 enrollment was 180 with grades 9-12 showing 200 students. The largest class in the Mangum school, system is the first grade with 60 students with the smallest being the newest class, the Pre-K, with 40 as of the 23rd.
Even though all schools in our state are facing tough financial time Mangum did not lay off any teachers from last year. In April the Mangum School Board announced the retirement of six personnel. Nancy Halladay, Terry Crabb, Darlene Irby, Julie Harris, Joey Gray and Mike Southall are all retiring this year. Halladay was special ed instructor, Irby taught foreign language, English and was a counselor, Crabb was a 6th grade teacher, Harris taught in elementary school, Gray was a custodian and a Vo Ag aide and Southall was the Mangum School’s superintendent for the past 12 years.
Marci Gracey, history teacher, and John Bryant, science teacher, have both accepted positions in other schools.
