The Old Greer County Western Heritage Association is sponsoring a Ranch Rodeo this Friday and Saturday, August 27 & 28 at the Mangum Mountie Arena.

If you’ve never seen a Ranch Rodeo you’re in for a big treat as it is much different from the normal rodeos held in our area.

A Ranch Rodeo consists of real cowboys doing what cowboys do on a working ranch, with a few twists added just to make it exciting.

Cowboys work as a team in timed events such as branding, trailer loading along with events such as wild cow milking and donkey un-decorating. There is a $300 entry fee per team plus a $65 stock fee. All entry fees will be awarded and the teams are accepted on a first come first serve basis each night.

A special event will be the Ranch Horse Bronc Riding with a limit of 15 riders per night. The entry fee for the bronc riding is $100 with the winner taking all the money. Books close at 5:00 each night.

15 kids each night will be able to compete in the mutton busting contest and younger kids can compete in the stick horse race at 6:30 each night. The entry deadline is August 25th.

The main event begins at 7:00 p.m. each night. For rules or more information you can contact Dennis Tebow at 580-782-2891 or 479-466-4134 or Curtis Bell at 580-675-4536. Advance tickets are $6. Tickets at the gate are $7. 12 and under get in free.

Come spend the day with us in southwest Oklahoma where the West is Wild.
