It took literally months of paper work and environmental studies before work could even begin on the Mangum Work Center’s new location. After those problems were cleared up work began renovating to the National Guard Armory building to house the Mangum Work Center. Months went by and work progressed inside the historic structure.

With the current financial crunch in the state it looked like they might get everything else done, yet run out of money when it came to completing the kitchen. Fortunately they found money to finish the project and last Friday citizens and Department of Corrections officials got their first look inside the work center. DOC officials, legislators and city officials had the opportunity speak to the big crowd on hand for the dedication.

Immediately after all the remarks were made these same dignitaries made their way to the front for the ribbon cutting, after which everyone had an opportunity to tour the facility. Inmates provided light refreshments for the event.
